 Under the aegis of the Foundation, the Department of Character Building and Pakistaniat established in 1997 was designed as Institute of Teachers Development in 1998 and later upgraded as College of education in 2000. Since the building of the College has been constructed with the generous contribution of Mohtarma Fatima Ghani, the Board of Directors resolved in their meeting held on 20th October, 2004 to rename the College as Fatima Ghani College of Education in order to recognize her contribution. She has rended 40 years meritorious service in the Punjab Education Department and served as a teacher and latter as Head of Junior Section of Queen Mary College Lahore. She did M.A and B.Ed from University of Punjab, Lahore.

 The College aims at grooming the teachers with a vision, values and will to reconstruct the society through character centred competence based creative education.

ADMISSION POLICY AND RULES

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT B.Ed COURSE

      Under pre-service, teacher training programe, the College started B.Ed course in May 2000. The course is of one year duration and College is now affiliated with University of the Punjab, Lahore. The medium of instruction is Urdu. The scope and range od academic activities of the college are continuously increasing. The course has gained popularity and the intake is rapidly increasing. Besides completing the courses of study, the students are imparted basic Computer Education in view of role of information technology in 21st century and inclusion of the subject of Computer Sciences in the syllabus of matriculation examination.
      Another unique feature of the course is "Extension Lectures Programme" during the year. For enhancement of knowledge and broadening of vision of the students, eminent educationists are invited to technology, culture, current affairs, communication, etc. The students have highly benefited from these lectures.

ADMISSION POLICY

Admission to the B.Ed Course will be open to female candidates from all over Pakistan. The notice regarding admission is advertised in the National Press fro inviting applications from the candidates. Admissions to course will be made only once in the academic year according to the schedule approved by University of the Punjab, Lahore. All the candidates are offered admission on the basis of criteria for determining merit given in the prospectus. The academic session generally commence and terminates in last week of May every year.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The procedure for admission to B.Ed Course is as follow:
i) Admission form along with the College Prospectus can be obtained from the office on payment within the dates announced through the pass. Candidates are required to attach attested copies of the following document with Admission Form:



DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED WITH APPLICATION FORM

(I)     A copy each of duly attested Matric, Intermediate and B.A / M.A certificates / degrees and their mark sheets.
(II)   Attested photocopy of character certificate.
(III)  Four attested copies of recent passport size photograph.
(IV)  Attested photocopy of National Identity Card.
(V)   Certificate of good health and physical fitness from a Registered Medical Officer.
(VI) Candidates who have passed B.A / B.Sc. other than University of the Punjab, Lahore must submit their migration certificate within one week after their admission.



INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF ADMISSION FORM

(I)    Attach all the documents required for admission with your application form. In case you fail to attach any one of the requisite document, your application will not be considered.
(II)   Write your name and address in "Block Letters".
(III) Fill in all the columns applicable to you legibly, completely, and carefully in your own hand writing.
(IV) Write two elective subjects on the appropriate place on the application form.



SELECTION PROCEDURE

After receipt of complete admission forms, the candidates are required to appear in written test / interview. After the test / interview, a merit list is prepared and the list displayed on the Notice Board. No call - up / intimation letter for test / interview and final selection is issued. The candidates are advised to note carefully schedule of admission given on the last page.

INSTRUCTION FOR SELECTED CANDIDATES

I) A list of the selectees is displayed on the Notice Board of the College. The candidates are to make their own arrangements to seek information about their selection.
II) Selectees failing to register within one week after display of the selection list will lose their right od admission.
III) Alternate selectees will have the chance for the admission in order of merit if some selectees fail to report for admission.
IV) Alternate selectees who fail to report personally on notified time will lose their chance for admission.

ELECTIVE SUBJECTS

Each student selects two elective subjects from one of the following groups: (400 Marks per subject)
i)   Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies.

ii) Urdu and Pakistan Studies

iii)English and Pakistan Studies.

NOTE:
i)  Elective Subjects will allotted on the basis of marks obtained in the subjects at B.A level.
ii) Detail Curricula and Syllabus are available from office of the College on payment.

SKILL IN PRACTICAL TEACHING                    200 Marks

Students are to prepare and deliver 80 lessons, 40 lessons per subject of elective subjects under the guidance of their respective teachers.

LESSON PLAN:
Students prepare two lesson plan registers, one each for their two elective subjects and two folders for the final examinations.

HOUSE EXAMINATIONS:
Students will appear in all house examinations according to schedule given in academic calendar of the College.

TOP 
RULES FOR PAYMENT OF CONTRIBUTION
i) Monthly contribution must be paid to the In-charge of the class by 15th of each month.
ii) If contribution is not paid by the specified date (15th instant), a late fee fine of Rs. 1/- per day will be charged till the day of payment.
iii) student(s) unable to pay their contribution by the last working day of the month will be automatically struck off the rolls of the College. The College is not under obligation to notify the defaulters or issue reminders for the payment of contribution.
iv) The name of a student will be struck off the College roll if she remains absent without leave for six consecutive days or for a total of 10 days during a month except where prior written approval of the Director has been obtained.

ACADEMIC COUNCIL
The College Council, a supreme body for making important decisions regarding academic, financial and administrative matters is constituted by the Director of the College. Three Senior Staff members are the members of the Council and Director / Principal is the Chairman.

COLLEGE UNIFORM

All the students are required to attend the college in proper uniform. The following rules will be observed in this regards:

i) Students will wear white KAMEZ, SHALWAR and DUPATTA as per design given below:

  • White mulmul dupatta (1x2 meters) to be trimmed with navy blue ribbon at a distance of 2" from the edages of widths.
  • Only black shoes with coloured socks are allowed.
  • During winter students are allowed to wear navy blue pullover and black shawls.
  • Students are not allowed to use cosmetics or wear any kind of jewellery.
  • Hair assessories e.g hair pins, ribbons, hair bands etc; if used must be simple and black in colour.

IDENTITY CARD
After admission, each student is provided a non-transferable College Identity card. Duplicate Identity Cards are not issued except under special circumstances, and on payment of fine. Identity Card is returned to the College office after completion of the course.

SPORTS
Students are encouraged to participate in various indoor and outdoor games and sports. Efforts are being made to provide more facilities to promote physical activities and sports among the students.

TRANSPORT
Sultana Foundation has made excellent arrangement to provide transport facilities to students, teachers and administrative staff of all the departments living in Rawalpindi / Islamabad. Currently, there are 20 vehicles which pick and drop students / teachers from their respective stops on the route determined by the Transport Manager. Students availing the bus service should abide by the following rules:

i) Obtain bus card from the Transport Manager which will be checked while boarding the bus.
ii) The bus card is non-transferable. In case the card is lost, a new card will be issued on payment of fine.
iii) Students must pay their bus fare according to schedule of payment determined by the College.

LIBRARY
The Foundation has a spacious library and reading room. The library books are issued to a student possessing library card.

The students must observe library rules, as specified below:

i) Books can be issued to students and staff of the College only.
ii) While in the reading room, the students must maintain silence. Defaulters are liable to be punished.
iii) In case the library card is lost, the matter should immediately be brought to the notice of the Librarian.
iv) Duplicate card will be issued on payment Rs. 100/- and submission of a written request.
v) Only two books can be issued to a student at one time.
vi) Issued books should be returned to the Library within 14 days failing which fine of Rs. 1/- per day will be charged for each volume retained overtime.
vii) Dictionaries, encyclopedias, reference books and expensive publications are not issued.
viii) Claim for refund of library security must be made within one month after declaration of the result by University of the Punjab, Lahore, failing which amount of the security will automatically laps in favour of the College.

FINE

A student is fined Rs. 10/- per day if she is improperly dressed or absent without leave. Breach of discipline on the following grounds is liable to heavy fine or expulsion from the College.

  • Cheating
  • Stealing
  • Showing indifferent behaviour in the class
  • Misbehaving with teachers and fellow students
  • Any act causing breach of discipline of the College; and
  • Violation of orders / instructions issued by the College from time to time.

GENERAL RULES

i) Students must attend 80% of the lectures delivered in each of the respective subject, failing which their admission forms will not be sent to the University.
ii) Regular attendance in Assembly, Classrooms, Sports, Library and functions is compulsory.
iii) Attendance in Skill in Practical Teaching is compulsory. Names of defaulters will not be placed in the subsequent schedule of Teaching Practice and ultimately admission to the University will be withheld.
iv) Leave of absence from classes will only be granted in exceptional cases and on extreme compassionate grounds.
v) A student found using unfair-means in test / examination will be disqualified.
vi) Pass marks for each examination are 33%. Prizes for standing first in the course and for particular group will be given at the end of the session.
vii) Progress and discipline reports will be sent to parents for their information.
viii) Parents are expected to inform the College about any change in their postal address and telephone number.
ix) No. visitor os allowed to meet a student during working hours. In case of emergency, the parents / guradians may contact Director of the College. Students will be contacted through I/C Section for formal leave. In case a student falls sick during working hours, she will be immediately sent to the Foundation Hospital and parents will be informed accordingly.
